Babar Café & Bar

Lunch with a good friend is always nice, no matter where you go, we chose this place because it is right near the entry to Woden Plaza where we were meeting. (There is also one in Civic – but I have no idea if their menu is the same or different.) The food was, however, pretty good. There are quite a few vegetarian options and they are marked with a funny little heart symbol which I didn’t notice until after I had read through the menu and decided what I wanted! The options vary from nachos to salads to pasta to other mains. My friend ordered a salad (which was huge!) and I went for mali kofta from the mains section of the menu – which were good but not really what I expected. I was expecting Indian style mali kofta, possibly with some rice, however, it was simply 4 or 5 kofta with a creamy sauce with nuts and covered with a garnish of sprouts – unfortunately I hate sprouts, so I had to spend some time picking them all off before I could actually start to eat the kofta! On the whole, a little expensive for lunch (especially if you order a main) but quite reasonable for dinner…
