This is one of our favourite places to eat, and finally I managed to order the vegan mee goreng for myself! I thought for a minute that Martin was going to also order the vegan mee goreng, as he usually does, but he changed his mind and went for the veggie laksa – which strangely enough was my second choice if Martin had decided to stick to his usual! Either way, the food was great, as usual and Martin seemed to enjoy his laksa – maybe next time he will try something different again!

As a bit of an incentive to do more exercise, Martin suggested we walk into town and have dinner – not such a bad idea, but it does, of course, mean that we have to walk home again with full bellies and it is almost winter, which means it is bloody freezing! However, we decided to go for it! We were going to try an Italian place, but Martin was keen to eat at Sammy’s and although I wasn’t really in the mood for all that noise, I decided it was probably early enough that it would be ok. I was right – when we arrived the restaurant was only half full but, when we left, there were people waiting outside for tables! We ordered the veggie spring rolls which came with a great spicy sort of plum type sauce, that I don’t think I have had here before. It was really nice! Our mains were our usual favourites, sizzling tofu with needles mushrooms and dry fried tofu with capsicum and cabbage. They were great as usual, although, I was a little concerned that we wouldn’t get the second one as the waiter didn’t write it down and was trying to recommend something else that he couldn’t find on the menu. He also looked extremely surprised that we wanted two tofu dishes! Anyway, we also had rice, tea and a couple of glasses if wine, and then we decided to head somewhere different for dessert!

Well, I said in my last review that I would like to go back here and try the little donut-y things that this place does, since we were looking for dessert, we decided to check them out! I think they are called proffertjes and they a a bit like little fluffy pikelets, with a kind of lemony/sugary taste to them. They taste pretty good with caramel topping and ice cream, Martin thought they were good with maple syrup and ice cream. Either way, they were pretty good and they went quite well with hot chocolate too!

This place used to be called Diversity, and I can still remember the excellent pizzas that we had here, so I was keen to head back and try it again. They still do pizzas but I have to say the whole experience was a a little disappointing! We ordered a gourmet veg pizza and a pumpkin and feta salad. The food arrived and we were so busy shuffling things around on the table so it could go in the middle that the waitress didn’t tell us what she had just brought out. We assumed that there was an awful lot of eggplant on the pizza and started eating. However, I soon decided that it was all a little too meaty for it to be eggplant and we asked a waiter what sort of pizza it was. It turned out to be duck, and when we said that we had ordered a gourmet veg pizza, the waiter told us that duck was quite nice – as if trying to convince us to stick with the pizza we had. I pointed out that we were vegetarian and we really would prefer the pizza that we ordered and he took it away and consulted the kitchen. It turns out that the wrong order was put into the computer, so they had to make us a fresh gourmet veg pizza. To their credit they did this quite quickly and we were told that the duck pizza would be removed from our bill (I should think so!
. I wasn’t overly impressed by the gourmet veg pizza – there certainly wasn’t much that was gourmet about it! But it was ok and it was better than duck! We ended up receiving a discount on our whole bill for the inconvenience of it all, which was a nice gesture, although given the whole experience I am not sure that I would bother again!

This is one of our favourite places especially if we are heading to a show! We were rather boring and ordered the usual – penne arrabiatta for me and fuseli pompeii for Martin. We also had garlic bread and a Mediterranean salad, a couple of glasses of wine and a hot chocolate each to finish it off. It was all great as usual, although, the pasta sauces were a little different, kind of less oily – although I guess that is a good thing!
