Well, I love breakfast out as I have mentioned somewhere else and this is one of the great places in the centre of Canberra to have breakfast! I was a little surprised at how many people “do” breakfast on a Monday morning, but hey – it doesn’t really matter right? Anyway, breakfast at Milk & Honey is great. They have a great selection of fresh juices and lots of choice – eggs, muesli, fruit, pancakes, croissants etc. Having been good and having fruit at home all weekend I decided to have scrambled eggs – the menu claims it is 2 eggs, however, they must have been 2 giant eggs, there was so much scrambled eggs, that I could barely see the toast! And they were yummy… I hate scrambled eggs that are gooey and runny, but these were cooked the perfect amount… I have heard that people go here for lunch and dinner, but have never tried it, so don’t know what their non-breakfast menu is like… I should try it one day.

We ran in here for a quick meal after catching a movie on a Monday evening, and Martin (for once) actually said he felt like eating pizza! And I have to say, that these are some of the best pizzas I have eaten in a long time! There are other things on the menu – a few veggie choices, but they have a deal which includes pizza, salad or chips, and a glass of wine or a beer for roughly $25. So, we did that… I asked for a hombre pizza which comes with meat, but without the meat and they were happy to oblige, Martin went for the pumpkin and potato pizza. The hombre pizza was fantastic – Mexican style toppings with sour cream and guacamole on top, and the potato and pumpkin pizza was great too! The pizza bases were thin and crispy and not sloppy at all considering the amounts of toppings that were on them! Just the way I like them – I really hate the very thick, greasy bases! As I said above, some of the best pizza I have eaten for a while – we’ll definitely go back!

Well, as you would expect from the name, there are mostly pancakes on the menu here! They have a pretty good variety of sweet (obviously all vegetarian!
and savoury, including crepes, where there are a couple of vegetarian choices… I have eaten here a few times and frankly I find it very difficult to order sweet pancakes for a meal other than dessert, so I usually go for savoury – my favourite being the potato and cheese pancake… which is pretty good! My friends went for sweet all the way – a short stack, Jamaican banana and blueberries – they claimed each one a success! This is the right place if you are in the mood for pancakes!

Martin loves this place – he said that he thinks it is his favourite restaurant – although in some ways I can’t see how, he always orders the same dish, so where is the variety?? Anyway, I think it is one of my favourite restaurants as well, the food is always great and there is a great range of vegetarian options… they even identify the vegan ones on the menu! We can never go past the vegan satays for an entrée – veggies and tofu on skewers with a great peanut satay sauce… yum – I am always sad though that there are only 2 skewers in a serve – I could happily eat more than 1! There is a huge variety of veggie mains, Martins favourite being the veggie mee goreng. I usually vary what I eat depending on my mood between the nasi goreng, stir fried noodles, laksa or sometimes the gado gado and a shallot roti – all are great! My only dislike of this restaurant is that their orange juice is yucky, and I always forget and order it anyway!

Lunch with a good friend is always nice, no matter where you go, we chose this place because it is right near the entry to Woden Plaza where we were meeting. (There is also one in Civic – but I have no idea if their menu is the same or different.) The food was, however, pretty good. There are quite a few vegetarian options and they are marked with a funny little heart symbol which I didn’t notice until after I had read through the menu and decided what I wanted! The options vary from nachos to salads to pasta to other mains. My friend ordered a salad (which was huge!) and I went for mali kofta from the mains section of the menu – which were good but not really what I expected. I was expecting Indian style mali kofta, possibly with some rice, however, it was simply 4 or 5 kofta with a creamy sauce with nuts and covered with a garnish of sprouts – unfortunately I hate sprouts, so I had to spend some time picking them all off before I could actually start to eat the kofta! On the whole, a little expensive for lunch (especially if you order a main) but quite reasonable for dinner…
