A penguin on a shot glass from Chile – who would have thought?? My parents found it when they were there…

I am pretty sure that this little guy was a gift for Martin from his parents. He’s kinda funny looking in a cute way…

A little Xmas gift to ourselves… When we saw this little family of penguins in a dog grooming place at the local shops (yes, true!!) we couldn’t resist!

This is two sets of mother and baby glass penguins. They came from the Old Bus Depot Markets in Canberra at different times. The plain glass ones were the first addition and the blue ones were bought later because they were blue!

This penguin was purchased from the gift shop at Parliament House. It is glass and quite heavy and the colours are very cool! (I am guessing at the date!)

These are Ritzenhoff shot/schnaps glasses, designed by Iti Janz. They were a Xmas present for Martin – I saw them and couldn’t resist – although purchasing them was a bit of a saga as I really wanted two but they could only find one box and would absolutely not put one of them into another box… In the end they got another correct box from another store I think!

Again, a penguin that I picked up in Hobart while I was there for work. I really did do some work on that trip, but used my spare time to enhance the penguin collection!

This assortment of penguins came from the Hokitika Glass Studio in New Zealand. We had been told about this place prior to going, so had made it a priority to visit! Obviously we couldn’t decide which penguins to get, so we got more than one. They did have a penguin chess set (I can’t see it on their website) – but it was too expensive and it would have been too hard to get home safely! Sadly we didn’t get to see any penguins (or anything else) being made as we arrived too late in the day. Definitely worth a visit if you are near there – their glassware is stunning.

We got these little penguins in a toy shop in Santa Monica. We’d had dinner with a friend and checked out the pier and were browsing the nearby shops… They are tiny – about 1cm tall – I think they are the smallest ones in the collection…

I saw this penguin in the window of a jewellers while out shopping one day. I couldn’t resist and bought it for Martin for Xmas. I think it is Venetian Murano Millefiori (meaning a thousand flowers) glass – or it is supposed to be! Sadly it is a bit unstable and falls easily!
